Abstract

Blood component therapy is essential for treating a wide range of therapeutic problems, such as hematological diseases, trauma, and surgical outcomes. Despite its importance, there aren't many thorough research evaluating its application and efficacy in various therapeutic settings in Pakistan. An analysis of the efficiency and use patterns of blood component treatment in different clinical settings in Pakistan was carried out through retrospective research. Data were collected from Different Hospitals of Public and Private Sectors including District Head Quarter Hospital Faisalabad, Allied Hospital-I Faisalabad and Hilal e Ahmar hospital Faisalabad. Data on patient demographics, clinical outcomes, type and volume of blood components delivered and indication for transfusion were all recorded and analyzed. The preliminary results show that different clinical settings in Pakistan use blood component treatment in somewhat diverse ways. Transfusions were mostly related to trauma cases, with elective procedures and medical issues such anemia and hematological diseases following closely behind. The most often transfused components were packed red blood cells (PRBCs) and fresh frozen plasma (FFP). Transfusion procedures, however, varied considerably throughout the facilities; some followed the standards strictly, while others made substantial deviations. Depending on the therapeutic circumstances and transfusion indication, the efficacy of blood component therapy varies as determined by clinical outcomes like fatality rates.
