Abstract

The paper explores the relationship of Use and Familiarity with ChatGPT, Perceived Impact of ChatGPT on Academic Work and Academic Reliability and Ethics among students in universities. A survey of 130 of them was conducted, and descriptive statistics and Chi-square tests were conducted to analyze the connections between the variables. Such findings prove that correlations are high, i.e., students who are more acquainted with ChatGPT believe that it has a greater impact on their academic life and also have some beliefs in terms of its reliability and appropriate use. The results show that the ChatGPT has become a force to reckon with in academia not only on how people learn but also on their academic ethics. The paper is also limited by the small sample size, cross-sectional design and self-reported data. Future research should be expanded to encompass larger and more diverse populations, go longitudinal, and be open to be qualitative to examine the ongoing development of the role of AI tools like ChatGPT in education.
