Abstract

Currently, the demand of electricity is increasing enormously and the major challenge for power engineers is to produce electricity from sources of renewable energy to resolve the increasing energy usage with reduced environmental impact of power generation.  This research study is an attempt to utilize the sources of renewable energy to overcome the increasing demand of electricity by integrating photovoltaic system as a Distributed Generations (DGs) into Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) Distribution Network and the issues and challenges which are arising due to integration of such (DGs). The researcher uses simulation model to study and predict its performance in the real world. This simulation model has two main phases: the first phase was distribution network has been analyzed without the integration of Photovoltaic cell. The result indicates that the overall power system losses without the integration of distributed generations. In the second phase the researcher analyzed the distribution system by integrating Photovoltaic cell (DG) to mitigate the loss of power in distribution system. The result shows that while integrating (DG) into power distribution network the overall power losses has reduced due to designed optimum location
