AbstractObjective: This study aimed to evaluate the risk factors associated with placenta previa and to explore therelationship between placenta previa and previous caesarean sections.Material and Methods: This analytical cross-sectional study was conducted from May to October 2024 atCMH and Nishtar Hospital in Multan. A total of 150 women who had at least one child with a gestational ageover 28 weeks and were diagnosed with placenta previa via ultrasound, either visiting the outpatient departmentor admitted for delivery, were included. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analysedusing SPSS version 26. The Chi-square test was employed to assess associations between qualitative variables, with a significance level set at p < 0.05.Results: The average age of participants was 27.2±5.4 years, with the majority (50%) having a parity of 4-6,followed by 46% participants having a parity of up to 3. Among the 106 women with a history of caesareansections, 79.2% had undergone one to three caesareans, while 20.8% had four or more. Additionally, 36.7%of participants experienced complications in previous pregnancies, with anaemia being the most commonrisk factor, affecting 54.5% of them. A significant association was identified between vaginal bleeding duringthe current pregnancy and the frequency of past caesarean sections (p=0.000). Furthermore, a significantassociation was found between placenta previa and a history of complicated pregnancies (p=0.002).Conclusion: The findings indicate a significant relationship between placenta previa and an increasingnumber of caesarean sections, as well as a history of complicated pregnancies. Early identification andcareful monitoring of these risk factors can help reduce the likelihood of adverse outcomes. Keywords: Placenta Previa, parity, caesarean section. How to cite: Qureshi I, Masood MS, Ghaffar A, Ashraf A, Rehman AU, Khan A.
