Background: Inhalant use disorder is a growing concern, yet research in Pakistan remains scarce. Gasolineabuse, particularly among young children, is uncommon. This report discusses a rare case of petrol dependencein a 10-year-old, emphasizing associated risks, withdrawal symptoms, and effective management. A 10-yearoldboy from a rural area developed a dependence on gasoline following accidental exposure. His usageescalated, leading to behavioral and neurological effects. Brought to a psychiatric facility, he exhibitedwithdrawal symptoms such as restlessness, cravings, and disturbed sleep. Treatment involved minimalpharmacological intervention with clonazepam and structured psychotherapy, resulting in full abstinencewithin ten days. This case deviates from typical adolescent inhalant abuse, highlighting early-onset dependencetriggered by environmental stressors. The neurobehavioral impact of gasoline, coupled with psychosocialfactors, played a critical role in addiction development. The child's rapid recovery underscores the importance ofearly intervention and family support in treatment. Childhood petrol dependence is rarely documented, yet earlydetection and intervention can lead to successful recovery. This case highlights the need for greater awarenessand further research on inhalant abuse in young populations, particularly in resource-limited regions. Keywords: inhalant use disorder, petrol dependence, substance abuse, child psychiatry, early-onsetaddiction, gasoline huffing, neurobehavioral effects, withdrawal symptoms, psychotherapy, Pakistan. How to cite: Jagial DA, Waqas M.
