Abstract

The paper reflects the nineteenth-century British imperialist desire to subdue the Pashtun tribes, most notably the Zakha Khel Afridi tribe,  along the North-West Frontier of India with a view to politically coax and militarily coerce them, by carrying out military expedition in 1908,  thereby immersing them in the imperial power politics. The paper argues that the British government justified military interference under the disguise of jurisdiction and law, hypocritically branding these expeditions as a judicial act. As a consequence, the tribesmen residing on the most remote fringes of the subcontinent, were subjected to threats. penalties and military operations. In order to fill a gap in the existing knowledge on the theme, this paper employes historical approach with Empiric-Analytic reason as a tool.
