Neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and ALS lack effective disease-modifying therapies due to complex, heterogeneous mechanisms. Proteomics provides a powerful platform to map protein networks, post-translational modifications, and signaling pathways directly involved in pathology. Recent advances in mass spectrometry and bioinformatics enable biomarker discovery and identification of novel therapeutic targets beyond conventional proteins. Integrated with other “omics” approaches, proteomics supports systems biology and precision medicine strategies. Despite challenges in tissue availability, data complexity, and validation, proteomics is rapidly advancing as a frontier in neurodegeneration research, offering promise for earlier diagnosis and innovative therapeutic interventions.
