This study explores the socio-cultural factors contributing to the delay of marriages in Pakistan, with a specific focus on the influence of family traditions and tribal customs. In many regions of Pakistan, especially in rural and tribal communities, marriage decisions are heavily influenced by long-standing cultural norms, including caste considerations, cousin preferences, dowry expectations, and strict gender roles. These customs often result in delayed marriage for both men and women, leading to various social, psychological, and economic consequences. The paper analyzes how such traditional practices hinder timely matrimonial arrangements; create obstacles for personal choice in marriage, and increase stress and societal pressure on individuals. By examining case studies and sociological data, this research aims to highlight the need for awareness and reform in customary practices to facilitate timely and consensual marriages in Pakistan.
