Abstract

This study presents a stylistic analysis of A.E. Housman’s poem “Loveliest of Trees, the Cherry Now”, focusing on the linguistic and literary techniques that shape its meaning and aesthetic impact. Employing a qualitative research approach, the analysis examines the poem across graphological, phonological, morphological, semantic, and pragmatic levels. Particular attention is given to the use of literary devices such as assonance, consonance, and alliteration, which contribute to the musicality and emotional resonance of the poem. The study highlights how Housman’s stylistic choices effectively convey themes of nature, transience, and human reflection on the brevity of life. Through this analysis, the research underscores the intricate relationship between language and style in enriching poetic expression.
