Abstract

Fashion today stands at the crossroads of sustainability, heritage, and technological transformation. This paper explores the Shandur Élevé collection; a cross-cultural fashion initiative that merges La Martina’s equestrian luxury identity with the traditional Kalashi embroidery of northern Pakistan. The study situates itself at the intersection of art, anthropology, and sustainable design, examining how cultural narratives can be reinterpreted within the framework of contemporary luxury fashion. Using a practice-based research methodology, this study investigates how sustainable materials, ethical production, and AI-assisted visualization contribute to developing an inclusive design model that celebrates both performance and cultural depth. The research highlights “cultural sustainability” as a design principle that integrates local craft traditions into global markets without losing authenticity. The Shandur Élevé collection emerges as a symbolic dialogue between two altitudes; the geographical height of the Shandur Polo Ground and the metaphorical height of creative innovation. By embedding traditional Kalashi motifs in La Martina’s sportswear silhouettes, this project offers a new paradigm for sustainable luxury where heritage is not archived but actively lived and reimagined through design.
