Abstract

This study aims to investigate the sociocultural obstacles that prevent Pakistani women from participating in politics.  Women are still disproportionately underrepresented in political arenas, despite constitutional protections and growing awareness of gender equality.  This study explores how gender-based stereotypes, religious interpretations, patriarchal ideals, and deeply ingrained cultural norms limit women's access to and efficacy in political positions.  It also examines how media representation, family relationships, economic dependence, and limited educational opportunities influence women's political participation.  Through qualitative techniques, such as speaking with female activists and politicians, the study sheds light on the ongoing obstacles that women who want to get involved in politics must overcome.  The results indicate that structural disparities and societal views continue to be major barriers, necessitating extensive policy changes and public awareness initiatives. The study comes to the conclusion that removing these obstacles is essential for promoting gender parity as well as for bolstering inclusive governance and democratic processes in Pakistan
