The research aims to prepare educational units according to the Needham model in cognitive achievement and learning the snatch for first-stage students, and to identify the effect of the Needham model on cognitive achievement and learning the snatch for students. The research population was determined by the students of the first stage of morning study in the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences - College of Basic Education - Al-Mustansiriya University, for the academic year (2024-2025), who numbered (115) students distributed into six sections, namely: (A, B, C, D, E, F). The research community was chosen specifically from first-year students, as they study weightlifting within their curriculum, The research sample was chosen randomly (by lottery) from among the six groups to determine the two research groups: experimental and control. After that, the researcher selected (25) students from each section by lottery, with a percentage of (43.47%), The experimental group, Division (B), has (25) students, and will learn to lift the weight according to the Needham model. As for the control group, Division (E), and the number of its members is (25) students, it learns in the method followed by the teacher (the imperative method) and according to the curriculum of the prescribed physical education lesson. The researchers conducted the pre- and post-test for the experimental and control groups, and the appropriate statistical treatments were conducted, The researchers concluded that using the Needham model has an effective impact on students’ cognitive achievement and learning the snatch, and that the thrill, excitement, and competition that exists as a result of using the Needham model increased the students’ motivation to perform and also facilitated the process of learning the snatch. The researchers recommend the necessity of adopting the Needham model in teaching the snatch lift, and using the Needham model because it facilitates the process for the teacher of applying the set educational goals and achieving them, as well as conducting a study similar to the current study on the snatch lift and at different age and educational levels.
