The intricate relationship between the heart and brain, particularly in the context of stroke, has garnered increasing attention in recent research. This paper explores the bidirectional interactions between acute ischemic stroke (AIS) and cardiovascular dysfunction, focusing on the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms. A qualitative methodology offers a structured framework for examining these interactions in stroke patients through thematic analysis. NVivo software was employed to facilitate an in-depth exploration of key interrelated components, including cardiovascular dysfunction, neurogenic stress cardiomyopathy (NSC), the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, and systemic inflammation. The findings reveal that NSC, often precipitated by heightened sympathetic activity, manifests as acute heart failure with myocardial dysfunction. Furthermore, sustained activation of the HPA axis exacerbates cardiovascular strain through the prolonged release of stress hormones, while systemic inflammatory responses further destabilize cardiac function. This study underscores the need for integrated therapeutic approaches addressing both neurological and cardiovascular health to improve stroke outcomes. Future research should continue to investigate heart-brain interactions to inform the development of more effective clinical interventions.
