Abstract

Introduction: COVID-19 spread globally during 2019 -2022 and had a great impact on human lifestyle and health since its outbreak. This study was conducted to identify the side effects of COVID-19 vaccination by analyzing the signs and symptoms of various COVID-19 vaccinations experienced after vaccination. The vaccinated public in various age groups was assessed.
Methodology: This cross-sectional study was carried out through a validated questionnaire sent to approximately 1000 vaccinated people. The questionnaire was based on any untoward outcomes of the vaccines, such as pain, redness, itching, and swelling at the injection site, fever, muscle pains, headache, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of consciousness, and anaphylactic reaction. The researchers used descriptive analysis along with comparative analysis.
Results: The most common side effect experienced was pain at the injection site. Fatigue was reported by 28% and fever by 16.5%. Females tend to report higher post-vaccination immunological responses than males. Comparing symptoms by age, it was observed that the 20-40 years age group of people had experienced more side effects than older people, i.e., 41-60 years.
Conclusion: The long-term control of the coronavirus with various vaccinations greatly overcomes the short-term negative effects of vaccination, which is encouraging and should help to educate people to alleviate vaccine hesitancy among the population. The benefits of vaccination outweigh the modest negative effects reported by the public. The low rate of side effects is reassuring and should aid in overcoming public apprehension about vaccines in the future development direction of vaccines.
