Community pharmacists serve as the custodians of medicine, ensuring their safe and effective use for their patients. With an ever-increasing population, especially in the Low- and middle-income countries, the healthcare system needs additional well-trained human resources to cater to the needs of the masses. Training community pharmacists as expert public health providers and developing their skills in community service can provide a valuable resource to the ailing healthcare systems. Based on this rationale, Shifa College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University has developed a ‘Community Service and Public Health’ module in its Integrated, Contextual, Modular Curriculum. The module has been designed and developed in light of the international curricula in public health, pharmacy, and community service engagement and aims to strengthen the psychomotor and affective domains of the learners, aiding them to become practice-ready pharmacists with a sense of professional and social responsibility.
