Abstract

Islam is a comprehensive religion that fully addresses the physical, spiritual, and mental needs of human beings. The Quran and Sunnah mention various means of healing, which not only clarify the concept of cure but also provide guidance on how a person should adopt a balanced approach to protect and restore their health. The Quran describes certain natural substances as remedies, such as honey, which is called "a healing for mankind," while dates, olives, and other blessings are also mentioned for their beneficial effects on health. Similarly, the Quran presents a detailed concept of spiritual healing, where supplication, remembrance of God, and recitation of the Quran are described as sources of peace for the heart and mind and means of spiritual cure.
The Prophetic Sunnah further enriches this concept. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ demonstrated practical examples of healing, such as cupping therapy, the use of Ajwa dates, black seed, and Zamzam water as remedies. Alongside these, he ﷺ also endorsed prayer and Ruqyah (spiritual incantations) as effective means of healing from ailments. This reveals that healing in Islam is not limited to the physical dimension but also encompasses spiritual aspects.
This analytical study clarifies that the means of healing presented in the Quran and Sunnah offer comprehensive guidance for human health and serve as a foundation for modern scientific research. Thus, the system of healing proposed by the Quran and Sunnah is a multidimensional, balanced, and universal concept that serves as a source of guidance for all times and societies.
