Abstract

The Hadith in the sense of the reports of the sayings and doings of the Prophet has been a subject of keen pursuits and constant study by the Muslims throughout the Muslim world since the very beginning of the history of Islam up to the present times. During the lifetime of the Prophet many of his companions tried to get by heart whatever he said and observed keenly whatever he did and they reported these things to one another.
Hadith is the second main source of Islamic Law, valid forever. Hadith was transmitted in two ways.one is narration by words (Riwayet billafz) and the other is narration in the meaning (Riwayet bilmana). One group of Traditionalists opposes Hadith’s narration in the meaning while the other gives permission with some conditions.
Orientalists have made objection on the narration of Hadith in this way. Side by side the Non-Muslims, one group from our so-called Muslims claim the authenticity of Hadith. The group known as anti-Hadith argues that all Hadith are fabricated, largely in the 3rd century of Islam and the Quran alone is the source of guidance for Muslims. The Traditionalists have cleared the blame in a very sensible mode. The article deals with the above-mentioned issues in detail.
