There are different types of religions in the world, which categories into semitic and non-semitic religions. Semitic religions refer to the three major religions of the world that were formed from the descendants of Sam, a son of prophet Noah (peace be upon him). These religions are Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. These religions also known as Abrahamic religions. Non semitic religions can be referred as Sikhism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism etc. Every religion has its own sacred places which are very important for them. And they consider visiting these and worshiping there as a great virtue and a source of honor for them. Due to their similarities, they also have similar sacred places like Jerusalem. Jerusalem is holy to three religions Jewish, Christian and Islam. The holly places of Jerusalem are Temple mount, Cave of Machpelah and Rachel’s Tomb etc. For Christians Church of Nativity, Sephoria, Sea of Galilee and Via Dolorosa are very sacred places and for Islam Makkah Mukaromah, Madina Munawara and Masjid Aqsa are sacred places in this article discusses the holiest city of semitic religion and gives a brief comparative analysis.
