Abstract

“Habib Sayeh” is an Algerian writer, who has written short stories, however he is known more as a novelist. He has published nine novels until now. His first novel, "The Time of Nimrod” has created for him, as it was the first Algerian novelist text written in Arabic to be confiscated by the authorities in the Algerian history after the independence.
This paper attempts at presenting Sayeh not as a novelist or a story writer, but as a critic even he refuses this title absolutely. We start in establishing this new description of Sayeh from his book (This metonymy ..Literary readings), which was published in 2014 and in which he has collected a set of articles published previously in different Algerian and Arabic newspapers and magazines, Actually, we will not provide a reading of the whole book (357 pages) but we focus on the first and the second parts, which Sayeh included readings in novel and poetry.
In this attempt, we mainly try to describe the writer work on the selected texts, in order to study his work in the two parts. Speaking about Habib Sayeh the critic within this framework is limited to the criticism of novel and poetry, hoping to discuss its work in the third part, which is allotted to the short story (he has read 17 stories) in another research,
