Abstract

The teachings and traditions of the Holy Prophet (SAW) provide a complete code of ethics, behavior and social values. It provides the base for the mental health as the Islamic religion, spirituality and Psychiatric health are inter-connected with each other. With the growth of world population, there increased the psychological and mental disorders especially among the Muslim population countries. In the light of the Sunnah Nabvi, the preventive measures could be taken against the eradication of these disorders causing mental disturbance among the Muslims. In this research article, in the light of traditions of the Holy Prophet (SAW), permanent and persistent measures against these disorders will be demonstrated. In order to avoid these problems, in the light of the sayings of the Holy Prophet (SAW) especially narrated in Sihah-e-Sitta (The six books of the Traditions of the Messenger of Islam) will be cited. This article also gives an idea about how the good and prohibited deeds in Islam affect the human psychological health causing various mental illness. This article discusses the connection of human psychology with Islamic social and ethical values.
