Failing to understand the basic concepts of economics lead to misconceptions and difficulty for students in learning the following concepts. The study aimed to improve the ability to understand basic economics concepts using concept attainment learning model. The research study was quasi experimental using one group pre test post test design. A public college in Sargodha district was selected as the accessible population and sample was 35 grade XI students enrolled in economics. Achievement test of economics containing 25 items after validation and determining acceptable reliability value through Kuder-Richardson formula KR-20 was used as a research tool. Data were analyzed quantitatively through gain score and inferential statistics. Thus, concept attainment model was effective in improving the understanding ability of students about economics concepts. The findings of the study are useful for developing lesson plans, teaching material and improving classroom practices through conceptual understanding.
