Abstract

ABSTRACT Yield, physio-chemical characteristics and chemical composition of the oil from the leaves of Ocimum americanum L. were determined. The results obtained compared well with those of oil from Ocimum canum Sims and Ocimum basilicum Var. minims. It is concluded that this oil is of fair standard and could be used in many products in place of oil from other Ocimum spp.
