Abstract

ABSTRACT Dioscorea deltoidea Wall. plant is known for its steroidal sapogenin extracted from rhizomes and is widely used as a precursor for synthesis of various steroidal drugs and sex hormones. In order to develop regeneration technology and its sustained supply, a number of long-term experiments on effect of cultural and fertilizer requirements on growth performance of the plants were under-taken in its natural habitat. Results are presented in this paper.
