ABSTRACT After field trials with scores of cultivators of exotic poplars it has become possible to pinpoint a few hybrid and deltoides clones for the northern and central regions and some deltoides clones for the southern parts of the country. It has been especially emphasized that due attention should also be given to cultivation techniques as well as improvement, through selection and breeding, of indigenous poplars such as P. euphratica, P. ciliata and P. alba, as the natives and their hybrids are, in the long run, likely to prove more adaptable to the diverse climatic conditions obtaining in the country
