Abstract

Spices play important role in cooking all over the world to enhance the taste. Adulteration in species has been concerned with the commencement of civilization, as it not only decreases the quality of compounds but also causes various diseases. This work is about to find out contamination in spices such as turmeric, red chili, black pepper, salt, coriander, cumin and cloves collected from different local markets of Quetta, Balochistan. Harmful substances in spices like yellow lead, mitanil yellow, salt, dyes of aniline in turmeric, starch in red chili powder brick powder and Rodamine B, dung powder and common salt in cumin and coriander powder. The main aim of this study is to develop knowledge and awareness in people of Quetta city about this adulteration present in spices which are commonly available in Quetta markets.
