Abstract

Teaching practicum is aimed at developing classroom management skills among trainee teachers. The study investigated the influence of teaching practicum on development of trainee teachers’ classroom management skills. Objectives of study were to; find out trainee teachers’ skills of classroom management developed in teaching practicum and recommend teaching practicum strategies for development of teachers’ skills in classroom management. Study’s design was quantitative.  Its population was 246 trainee teachers of B. Ed (Hons) in university of Swat. A sample, 151 was selected using stratified random sampling. A questionnaire was constructed, validated and piloted. Data were gathered with google forms. It was analyzed using mean scores, standard deviations and chi-square. The study found that teaching practicum developed students’ skills in managing lessons, time management, planning classroom activities, overcoming students’ disruptive behaviors and using ICTs to manage classes. The study recommended teacher educators effective feedback for development of trainee teachers classroom management skills.
