Abstract

Social capital has been acknowledged as a key determinant of productivity on the workplace. Apparel industry has had a strong base in Pakistan due to the country past experiences in textile sector. The current study aimed toexamine the impact of Self-sacrificial leadership on Social capital and Job performance in Pakistani retail apparel industry. The data was collected using a survey questionnaire that was distributed to employees working in various apparel companies. The data was collected from 343 participants. The results showed a significance impact of SSL on SC which successively impacted job performance. However, the mediated relation of SSL and JP through SC was not found to be significant. The study provides valuable insights for the leadership development in the apparel industry, stressing impact of leadership on performance and importance of fostering social capital. Hence the findings would help professionals to work on the social capital.
